Welcome to the Light-Matter Hybrid Chemistry Lab at TIFR

Chemistry under Light-Matter Strong Coupling

Light-matter interactions are perpetual sources of stimulation in experimental and theoretical sciences. In the so-called strong coupling regime, hybrid light-matter states (polaritonic states), are formed by the interaction of a molecular transition (either electronic or vibrational) with the zero-point fluctuations of the electromagnetic field. The formation of such hybrid states results in the modification of various physical and chemical properties of the molecules/materials. This exciting field is at the interface of quantum electrodynamics and molecular science. My current research involves understanding the fundamental mechanism and exploring the potential application of this phenomenon in different fields of chemistry.
